Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 369"Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens Hana Ippai Project" Spring Flowerbeds November 2, 2019 NTT West Tokai Group

On November 2, 2019 (Saturday), NTT West Tokai Group took part in the "Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens Hana Ippai Project" (spring flowerbeds) at Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens in Nagoya City, Chikusa-ku.

This flowerbed-making project is organized by Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens three times a year in spring, summer and autumn in cooperation with other companies and groups to transform the botanical garden into a place that is full of beautiful seasonal flowers. As a participant of this event since 2013, Tokai Group engaged in the making of spring flowerbeds this time, which will add colors to the garden by spring.

At 10 a.m. on the day of the activity, a total of 199 participants, including employees, family members and retired employees of Tokai Group, gathered at the flower field in the botanical garden.
The event kicked off with an opening address by the director of the botanical garden, followed by greeting from the General Affairs Department Manager of NTT West Group Tokai Regional Headquarters.
Work started after all the participants from Tokai Group took a commemorative photo with the flowerbeds as the backdrop and children participants put on a greenish-yellow vest.

Participants were assigned to one of the three flowerbeds to plant viola seedlings and tulip bulbs.
Under the guidance of staff from the botanical garden, the viola seedlings were placed on the soil of the flowerbed at evenly-spaced positions while the tulip bulbs were planted in between them.
Both adults and children spent about an hour to complete the work successfully at their own pace while paying attention not to step on the seedlings.

The spring flowerbeds created at this activity are expected to be in full blossom in five months' time between mid to late April. The pink, white and red violas as well as the tulips will bloom at about the same time to offer a colorful view for the visitors to enjoy.
Also, as part of the effort to continue with the "Midori Ippai Project" initiative at home, hyacinth bulbs were given to interested participants for them to bring home.

Together with our employees and family members, NTT West Tokai Group will continue to engage actively in activities that contribute significantly to protection of the global environment, biodiversity conservation as well as the local communities.
