LINE 365 "Nagaragawa Fureai no Mori" Autumn Forest Volunteer Activity

Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 365"Nagaragawa Fureai no Mori" Autumn Forest Volunteer Activity November 9, 2019 NTT West Gifu Group

On November 9, 2019 (Saturday), a total of 72 participants, including employees and family members of NTT West Gifu Group as well as members of the "Yomoginokai" retiree volunteer group, took part in the autumn forest volunteer activity at "Nagaragawa Fureai no Mori" located at Mitahora of Gifu Prefecture.
Participants engaged in weeding and cleaning work at the second round of activity for this fiscal year.

The event kicked off at the "Shiki no Mori (Forest of Four Seasons) Center" with an orientation and a study session on the environment titled "Learning about the issue of marine plastics," which helped to deepen the participants' understanding toward environmental issues.

While plastics are readily available for use, they are also disposed of without much consideration with a large quantity ending up in the sea. These plastics now pose an issue as they cause harm to fish, seabirds, seals and other sea mammals, as well as rare species such as sea turtles that inhabit the vast ocean, endanger their lives and adversely impact the marine ecosystem.

After the orientation, three grass cutters were put into full use to weed and clean the areas around the planted saplings and walking trails.
The open space around the planted trees and walking trails became amazingly clean, offering a pleasant forest environment for those who are strolling there.

At the end of the work, the participants brought home with them original "yoseue" (group planting) pots which they created on their own using the seasonal grass and flowers of the autumn and winter seasons.
Growing flowers with care helps to develop one's love for nature and enrich the daily life of many with greenery.

NTT West Gifu Group will continue to engage actively in efforts to promote such environmental conservation activities and ensure that they will take root.
