Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 3627th "Midori Ippai Project" Activity November 17, 2019 NTT West Miyazaki Group
On November 17, 2019 (Sunday), a "Forestation with Water and Greenery" prefectural resident volunteer activity was hosted by Miyazaki Greening Promotion Agency at Awakigahara Forest Park that is situated next to Miyazaki Seaside Park in Miyazaki City. A total of about 120 employees and family members of NTT West Miyazaki Group companies and affiliates took part in this event as part of the "Midori Ippai Project" initiative.
At the meeting prior to the ceremony, a greeting was given by Manager of Miyazaki Branch, who mentioned that this was the seventh round of the Midori Ippai Project activity this year, and thanked the NTT West Miyazaki Group companies and affiliates for their united effort to participate in the activities. He also urged everyone to perform work with safety as the top priority while hoping the weeding work and other activities will help to protect the environment and enhance the level of environmental awareness. After the speech, participants moved to the ceremony venue.
At the opening ceremony, Governor of Miyazaki Prefecture delivered a speech and presented awards to those with outstanding contributions to greening. This was followed by a round of warm-up exercise together with "Mu-chan," the dog mascot character of Miyazaki Prefecture, to prepare for the work.
A total of about 500 volunteer participants from different parts of the prefecture then proceeded to the designated areas to engage in branch pruning and weeding. Participants struggled to remove the densely-grown grass using sickles which they are not used to, and work completed in about 1.5 hours.
Governor of Miyazaki Prefecture as well as representatives of local government bodies and other parties related to the forestry industry thanked the participants for a turnout that was so big that the blue bib vests they wore stood out from the surroundings.
NTT West Miyazaki Group will continue to preserve and hand down the bountiful and beautiful environment to future generations through activities in cooperation with local government bodies and NPOs.
