Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 344Participation in the "Tanabe Bay Cleaning Mission" June 8, 2019 NTT West Wakayama Group
On June 8, 2019 (Saturday), NTT West Wakayama Group took part in the "Tanabe Bay Cleaning Mission" organized by Tanabe City of Wakayama Prefecture.
Started since 1976, this activity aims at developing awareness toward nature conservation and beautification of the environment while deepening the understanding of wastes that are washed ashore through cleaning activities around the beautiful and abundant nature of the Tanabe Bay area.
This is the 21st round of participation since Wakayama Group joined the activity in 1999.
Cleaning activities were carried out at a total of five districts in Tanabe City, namely the Motoshima area and Tenjinzaki district, Atonoura district, Torinosu district, Hidariaizugawa-kako district and Ogigahama district. 41 employees and family members of Wakayama Group who participated were assigned to clean the Ogigahama district.
Blessed with good weather, participants filled the garbage bags with plastics and driftwood that were washed ashore as well as litter found between the rocks as they wiped off their sweat.
A total of 1,180 participants from Wakayama Group and other local companies, neighborhood associations and groups took part in the activities, and collected as much as approximately 19 tons of garbage (including 16,560kg of combustible waste, 220kg of recyclable waste, 2,180kg of landfill waste and 210kg of plastic waste) in total from the five districts around the Tanabe Bay area. This has helped significantly to conserve the natural environment.
In addition to this cleaning activity, NTT West Wakayama Group also participates in activities such as "Kinokawa Mass Cleaning" and "Wakayama City 10,000 People Mass Cleaning." We will continue to engage actively in community-based environmental conservation activities.
