On January 26, 2020 (Sunday), NTT West Nagasaki Group took part in the satoyama (village forest) cleaning activity at Nagasaki Shimin no Mori Forest Park as part of the "Midori Ippai Project." The event was hosted by the Forest Experience Center in Nagasaki Shimin no Mori Forest Park.
This is the second time for NTT West Nagasaki Group to take part in this event since its first participation last year.

Held yearly, this is an activity to walk around and gather litter in areas around the Nagasaki Shimin no Mori Forest Park, which is a recreation area for the residents of Nagasaki City.

Built to commemorate the 400th anniversary since the opening of the port at Nagasaki, Nagasaki Shimin no Mori is an extensive forest park that has been developed for use as a recreation area and space for outdoor activities by residents of the city. The park offers a Forest of Wild Birds and Forest of Insects, as well as a Forest Experience Center, sports square, cabin and campsite.

Although it remained uncertain whether the event could be held until the very last moment due to poor weather over the past few days, there was no rain on the very day and the cleaning activity was held successfully.
The opening ceremony kicked off with a greeting speech from the staff at the Forest Experience Center. This was followed by a lecture on the precautions to take when performing the work. A total of about 50 people, including 28 members of Nagasaki Group, as well as staff of the Forest Experience Center and the public, were divided into three courses (A, B and C) to engage in the cleanup.

About two hours were spent to complete the round-trip course, during which participants paid attention to pick up trash that was littered along areas including the main and side roads, surroundings of the cabin and at the sports square while ensuring their safety.

At the end of the activity, staff of the Forest Experience Center showed their appreciation by offering hot pork miso soup and bamboo shoot rice. The participants had a pleasant time while keeping themselves warm and communicating with one another.

Also, NTT West Nagasaki Group donated cleaning equipment at this round of activity.
NTT West Nagasaki Group will continue to actively participate in and support this activity to take good care of Nagasaki Shimin no Mori Forest Park, which is a popular recreation spot among the residents.
