Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 371"Tottori Forest of Symbiosis" Forest Conservation Activity December 14, 2019 NTT West Tottori Group

On December 14, 2019 (Saturday), NTT West Tottori Group took part in the third round of the "Tottori Forest of Symbiosis" forest conservation activity at Tottori City, Fukubecho, Yuyama.

Started in 2006, the "Tottori Forest of Symbiosis System" is a system by Tottori Prefecture and the municipalities to support forest conservation activities by the private sector.
Under this system, Tottori Group has been engaging in activities to maintain the bamboo forests for five years at Yazu-cho since 2013. A new forest conservation and management agreement was concluded in October 2018 with Tottori Prefecture and Tottori City, and about 200 resistant black pine trees were planted in November over an area of approximately 1.06 hectares near the Tottori Sand Dunes Oasis Plaza at Fukubecho, Yuyama.
Weeding and other nurturing activities are carried out twice a year, which help to restore the beautiful pine grove with white sand and green pines along the coast, which is a designated site in San'in Kaigan Geopark. At the same time, they also play the role of protecting the Japanese leek fields, a specialty of Tottori Prefecture, from sand blown from the dunes.

The weather was cloudy and chilly on the day of the event. A total of 76 participants, including 67 employees, family members and retired employees of Tottori Group and nine other representatives of Tottori Prefecture, Tottori City and Tottori East Forest Owners' Cooperative, took part in the weeding work around the resistant black pine trees that were being planted.

NTT West Tottori Group will continue to work with members of the local community to protect the white sand and green pines of the pine grove along the coast as well as the Japanese leek fields, a specialty of Tottori Prefecture.
