Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 336Islandwide Public Greening Campaign, 70th Okinawa Prefecture Tree Planting Festival May 25, 2019 NTT West Okinawa Group
On May 25, 2019 (Saturday), the "70th Okinawa Prefecture Tree Planting Festival" Islandwide Public Greening Campaign was held at "Yutaka Elementary School" in Tomigusuku City of Okinawa Prefecture. The event was participated by a total of about 800 people, including 49 employees of NTT West Okinawa Group and their family members.
Since the first Okinawa Prefecture Tree Planting Festival in 1951, the event has been held yearly as a campaign to promote greening with the aim to disseminate and raise awareness of the importance of greening by individual prefectural residents.
Themed "Tomigusuku - Harmonizing Greenery with the Mind to Create a Sense of Peace" this year, the aim is to create a beautiful island with lush greenery through tree planting.
They sky was clear on the day of the event, and participants engaged in planting work under the blazing sun.
While drinking plenty of water to prevent heatstroke, participants planted about 1,400 saplings (six species including Pongam oiltree and Yeddo hawthorn) prepared by the administration office in the flowerbeds of Yutaka Elementary School.
For the saplings planted by all the participants through their cooperation and hard work, we look forward to seeing them thrive, spread out their branches and leaves and add color to the school buildings of the children.
NTT West Okinawa Group will continue to engage actively in such efforts to promote community-based greening activities and contribute to protection of the global environment.
