On January 27, 2019 (Sunday), NTT West Nagasaki Group took part in the "Satoyama (Village Forest) Cleaning" activity at Nagasaki Shimin no Mori Forest Park as part of the "Midori Ippai Project." The event was hosted by the Forest Experience Center in Nagasaki Shimin no Mori Forest Park.
This is a yearly activity to walk around and gather litter in areas around the Nagasaki Shimin no Mori Forest Park, which is a recreation area for the residents of Nagasaki City. This is the first time for Nagasaki Group to take part in this event. A total of about 50 people, including 35 employees and family members of Nagasaki Group, as well as staff of the Forest Experience Center and the public, worked together to engage in the cleanup.
There were uncertainties about the weather as it has been extremely cold from the day before at Nagasaki due to the cold spell. However, weather turned out to be perfect for cleaning on the actual day. Opening ceremony kicked off at 9:30a.m. with a greeting speech from the staff at the Forest Experience Center. This was followed by a briefing on the precautions to take when performing the work.
After the opening ceremony, the 50 participants were divided into three courses A, B and C where they spent about two hours making a round trip on foot to pick up litter that was scattered in the area along the driveways and side roads as well as around the cabins and sports square.
At the end of the activity, staff of the Forest Experience Center showed their appreciation by offering and pleasing the participants with hot pork miso soup and bamboo shoot rice.
Events such as woodworking class were also held in the afternoon, and the creative activities were a memorable experience to employees who took part with their children. Both children and adult participants spent meaningful time through the enjoyable experience.
NTT West Nagasaki Group will continue to participate in and support this activity to take good care of Nagasaki Shimin no Mori Forest Park, which is the heart and soul as well as the relaxation spot for many people.
