On December 8, 2018 (Saturday), NTT West Ehime Group, with support from Ehime Prefecture and Matsuyama City, held the "NTT Clean Environment Mission 2018 in Ehime" at Dogo Park in Matsuyama City.

Dogo Park is a multi-purpose park run by Ehime Prefecture that is situated next to Dogo Onsen.
In addition to landmarks with profound history including the old samurai residences and Yuzuki Castle ruins of the medieval age, which are selected as one of Japan's top 100 historical parks as well as top 100 castles, and cultural facilities such as the "Matsuyama City Shiki Memorial Museum," which exhibits documents related to Masaoka Shiki, a haiku and tanka poet who was born in Matsuyama, the gigantic Dogo Park is also equipped with fields and open spaces and is a popular place for strolls among many local residents and tourists.

This cleaning mission has already become a regular event that is held every December. Marking the 25th round this year, this event is held as a part of the CSR activities promoted by NTT Group (building a society of symbiosis with environment; building a lively and bright society) with support provided by the NTT Group companies in Matsuyama City and the neighboring areas.

Under the harsh coldness on the day of the event, a total of about 330 participants who are employees, family members as well as retired members of NTT Group took part in the activity.

Participants gathered fallen weed and leaves stuck in the drains using brooms and rakes, followed by scattering them at the roots of the trees.

These fallen leaves would then be decomposed by earthworms and microorganisms into leaf mold that helps to promote the growth of the trees. Not only so, the leaves can also be expected to improve the quality of the soil with excellent breathability and water retention properties.

After the activity, participants proceeded to pick up fallen leaves at rest areas and sightseeing facilities as part of the effort to beautify the entire park.

After cleaning was completed, the park and the pavement have transformed into an even more pleasant environment than before for the tourists and people strolling there.

NTT West Ehime Group will continue to engage in environmental conservation activities to prevent global warming.
