Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 294"Tsu City Shiratsuka Beach Cleaning" Volunteer Activity July 14, 2018 NTT West Mie Group

On July 14, 2018 (Saturday), NTT West Mie Group took part in a volunteer cleaning activity along Shiratsuka Beach (Mie Prefecture, Tsu City) as part of the "Midori Ippai Project." This activity was organized by Mie Gyoren (Mie Prefecture Federation of Fishery Cooperative Association).

Mie Group participates in this initiative every year. Cleaning activity was held at Akogiura Beach of the same city until last year. This year, the venue has been changed to Shiratsuka Beach.

Located inside Ise Bay, Shiratsuka Beach is a sand coast with bountiful nature. It is also the breeding site for loggerhead sea turtles, an endangered species.

On the day of the event, a total of more than 400 participants, including about 50 employees, family members and retired employees of Mie Group, took part in the cleaning work.

They spent about an hour's time to remove litter including objects that were washed ashore, plastic bottles, empty cans, and also bulky trash such as tires and wheel barrows. The entire beach was clean again in no time.

Prior to the start of the activity, words of appreciation were also received from Mr. Maeba, Mayor of Tsu City, as well as Mie Gyoren, the organizer.

NTT West Mie Group will continue to contribute to biodiversity conservation by working together with the local communities to take part in such volunteer activities.
