Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 293Participation in the Ishikawa Forestation Project June 30 and July 14, 2018 NTT West Hokuriku Group

About 50 employees of NTT West Hokuriku Group and their family members took part in the "Ishikawa Forestation Project" that was held on two days, June 24, 2018 (Saturday) and July 8, 2018 (Saturday). This project was hosted by Ishikawa Reforestation Promotion Association.

This is an initiative for companies and groups to participate in forest conservation activities to maintain the beautiful nature at three locations (Kaga, Kanazawa and Noto).

Hokuriku Group took part in the undergrowth weeding and vine cutting activities of the "Ishikawa Forestation Project" to prevent grass from covering the planted saplings, thus impeding their growth as a result.

It is a long process as the effort needs to continue for about 10 years after planting the saplings, but this is one of the important works for them to develop into a forest.

Activity on June 20 was held near the fossil plaza inside the "Yuhidera Kenmin Shizen-en (Yuhidera Healthy Resident Nature Park)," a satoyama (village forest) in Kanazawa City. Meanwhile, the event on July 14 took place near the "Shiramine Cross Country Arena" at the foot of Hakusan, one of the three most famous mountains in Japan.

Under the hot sun on the days of the event, participants engaged in weeding work across an area of about 1,000 sqm after receiving instructions on the safe use of sickles and measures to prevent heatstroke.

Participants from Hokuriku Group worked together with the other corporate volunteers to cut the dense bushes using sickles and grass cutters.

The children participants were startled by insects that crawled out from the bushes every now and then, but nonetheless they engaged in the work energetically and enthusiastically.

At the end of the activity, cold drinks and rice cakes were distributed to the participants, who had pleasant conversations with one another while enjoying their food.

NTT West Hokuriku Group will continue to engage in the "Ishikawa Forestation Project" through such nature conservation activities to develop an environment full of greenery and hand down the beautiful satoyama (village forest) to future generations.
