Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 291Participation in "Tottori Forest of Symbiosis" Forest Conservation Activity May 12, 2018 NTT West Tottori Group

On May 12, 2018 (Saturday), NTT West Tottori Group took part in the "Tottori Forest of Symbiosis" forest conservation activity.

Started in 2006, the "Tottori Forest of Symbiosis" initiative is part of the system by Tottori Prefecture and the municipalities to support social contribution activities by the private sector. Tottori Group concluded a five-year tripartite agreement with Tottori Prefecture and Yazu-cho in 2013 to engage in such activities twice a year.

This is the 10th and also the last round of the activity before the expiration of the agreement.

On the day of the event, a total number of 125 participants, including 70 from Tottori Group, gathered at the bamboo grove owned by Tahoji Temple (Yazu-gun, Yazu-cho, Funaokatono).
Blessed with fine weather, participants struggled with the work they were not familiar with every now and then and worked up a good sweat engaging in tasks such as cutting down unwanted bamboos and transporting the plants under the guidance of Yazu Central Forest Owners' Cooperative.

At the end of the activity, a lunch session was arranged as with past years where participants had the opportunity to deepen their interaction with the local community while enjoying handmade dished prepared by members of the local women's association.

Also, at this last round of the activity, the Town Mayor of Yazu-cho, Agricultural, Forestry and Fisheries Department Manager of Tottori Prefecture and other related parties were also present to attend a commemorative ceremony that included tree planting and local traditional performances such as the "Mizukuchikasa Dance."

While the venue will be changed in future, NTT West Tottori Group will continue to engage actively in such activities to protect the global environment and contribute to the local communities.

We would hereby like to thank all the participants in the past events for their support.
