Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 286Participation in "Spring Mass Cleaning at Tottori Sand Dunes" April 15, 2018 NTT West Tottori Group

On April 15, 2018 (Sunday), NTT West Tottori Group took part in the "Spring Mass Cleaning at Tottori Sand Dunes."

Organized by Tottori City with the objective to protect the beautiful nature of the Tottori Sand Dunes, this mass cleaning activity started in 1980 and is conducted twice a year in spring and autumn to clean up the 7km stretch of the Tottori Sand Dunes coastline located on the east side of Tottori Prefecture.

Designated as a national monument in 1955, three rows of sand dunes are formed at the center of the Tottori Sand Dunes, which are referred to respectively as the "first," "second" and "third" sand dune. Among them, the second sand dune is the most popular among visitors. It is also commonly known as "umanose (horseback)" due to the beauty of the gentle slope.

It was very windy and drizzling on the day of the event. Despite the unfavorable weather conditions, a total of 78 participants from Tottori Group who are employees and family members took part in the activity to gather trash that was washed ashore along the coastline beyond the "horseback" sand dune, including plastics and metal wastes.

NTT West Tottori Group will continue to work together as a group to engage actively in nature conservation efforts through the "Midori Ippai Project."
