Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 274Protect the "Satoumi" of Ishikawa! May 27, 2018 NTT West Hokuriku Group
On May 27, 2018 (Sunday), a total of 216 employees, family members and retired employees of NTT West Hokuriku Group took part in the "Clean Beach Ishikawa in Kanazawa" beach protection activity.
This is an initiative to maintain the beautiful coastline of Ishikawa, which is about 583km in length.
Blessed with good weather on the day of the event, participants started at 7 a.m. to clean up an approximately a 1km stretch of the coastline at the Senkoji area in Kanazawa City.
All the participants, including the volunteers, worked efficiently and filled up the trash bags with garbage they have collected in no time.
The participants looked tired at the end of the activity, but it felt cheerful and refreshed with everyone naturally exchanging words of appreciation with one another for the hard work.
Before the cleaning work started, there was more trash than before that was washed ashore and scattered across a wide area. The state was beyond our expectation and this is a very worrying environmental issue considering how it could possibly impact ocean life.
This cleaning activity has helped to restore the beauty of the coastline in Ishikawa and once again allowed us to gain a realistic feel that we are living in an environment that is surrounded by bountiful sea and nature.
NTT West Hokuriku Group will continue to engage in environmental conservation activities to maintain the beauty of our "satoumi (local coastlines)" for future generations.
Amount of trash collected throughout the entire "Clean Beach Ishikawa in Kanazawa" activity: 22.16 tons
