On May 19, 2018 (Saturday), NTT West Kagawa Group held the "NTT West Clean Environment Mission 2018 in Mineyama" at the verdant green Mineyama Park in Takamatsu City.

The "Clean Environment Mission" is a social contribution activity that is participated jointly by NTT Group companies that are based in Takamatsu City. This year marks the 27th anniversary of the activity and the 22nd year since it was first held at Mineyama Park. With "Connect at Mineyama. That's Eco" as the slogan, we are encouraging participation by a wide age group from young people, who will be the ones forging the future, to elderly ones to help hand down the beautiful nature to future generations.

The Iwaseo Sankai burial mounds, a national historic spot, are also located in the surrounding area of Mineyama Park. In addition to camping sites, open space for children and hiking courses leading to the tumulus, the place is also well known among the locals as a recreation area with a view.

A total of about 300 participants, age between 1 to 88, including employees and family members of Kagawa Group and partner companies, members of the OB association and Public Telephone Communication (P Com), as well as the volunteer group of Kagawa University, took part in the cleaning activities at the open space lawn and around the wisteria arbors.

Work was performed mainly to remove the weeds from the lawn. However, perhaps due to the rain in the early morning, the lawn surface softened and the participating children exclaimed that "the weed is soft and easy to remove" and "the weeds can be removed easily by pulling them out at an angle." Lasted for about an hour, the event left a deep impression with the participants devising their own ways of cleaning while enjoying the activity.

The activity was covered by many media, including Setonaikai Broadcasting, Nishinippon Broadcasting (radio), Kagawa Keizai Report, Shikoku Shimbun and Yomiuri Shimbun. Voices from the participants include "I can feel the warmth of this activity with a diverse variety of participants" and "I always enjoy taking part in the activity every year."

The event was immediately featured on TV news and radio programs as well as newspaper articles. We hope that this will allow more people in the local community to be aware of the social contribution activities of NTT West Group.

At the end of the event, an eco-friendly shopping bag was distributed to all the participants as a novelty with the hope that they will put it to good use as part of the environmental conservation efforts in their daily life.

NTT West Kagawa Group will continue to carry out the monthly "Sawayaka (Refreshed) Road" cleaning activity as well as the "NTT Midori Ippai Shionoe no Mori" yamazakura (wild cherry) tree planting activity that is scheduled on November 10 (Saturday). We will also continue to engage actively in efforts to protect the local environment while working together with the local government bodies and other groups.
