Main Recent Activities 2018 Green NTT West Promotion Training

As part of the environmental education program, NTT West Group conducts a yearly Green NTT West Promotion Training for environment officers of the Group. This year, we participated in a study tour to the advanced Eco Town Project and Next-Generation Energy Park under the "Kokosuma Tour" and "Kitakyushu City Eco Town Project."

At the "Kokosuma Tour," we learned about the anti-pollution measures of Kitakyushu City at the Kitakyushu Environment Museum. We also visited the demonstration test that makes actual use of hydrogen at households and public facilities under the Kitakyushu Smart Community Creation Project to learn about next-generation energy for achieving a carbon-free society.

For the "Kitakyushu City Eco Town Project," we visited the Zero Emission Transportation System at the Next-Generation Energy Park that makes use of a large-scale photovoltaic system and battery, as well as the "Wind Power Hibiki" wind power system. In addition, the study tour also included visits to a factory for recycling medical wastes and the four designated types of waste home appliances as well as the demonstration facility for biomass plastics and chemical recycling at Kyushu Institute of Technology.

On the first day of the training, there was a session to exchange views among the environment officers on the social trends for ESG issues, importance of making contributions to resolve social issues using ICT, day-to-day CSR activities, as well as things that the participants noticed during the study tour.

Through this training, not only did employees involved in the environmental protection initiatives of NTT West Group gained a deeper understanding toward global environment protection and resolution of social issues, the environment officers were also able to enhance exchange of information and establish better communication. NTT West Group will continue to leverage the knowledge gained from this training in our activities to protect the global environment.

Training dates: October 30 to 31, 2018
Training venue: Fukuoka Prefecture, Kitakyushu City
No. of participants: 19
