The results of the "21st Environmental Management Survey" were announced by Nikkei Inc. on The Nikkei and Nikkei Sangyo Shimbun newspapers, and NTT West was ranked top among 62 surveyed companies in the category of "Communication and Services."

Since 1997, Nikkei Inc. has been conducting a yearly survey to evaluate the balance between enhancement of management efficiency and environmental measures by different companies. The current survey was conducted between late August and early November 2017 on leading listed and unlisted companies, which included 1724 and 1357 companies in the manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors respectively. Among them, a total of 395 manufacturing and 281 non-manufacturing companies responded to the survey.
Survey on the level of environmental management is conducted by calculating a total score based on five rating indicators: system for promoting environmental management, measures against global warming, environmental product policy (only for manufacturing and construction sectors), pollution- and biodiversity-related measures, and resource recycling. Highly rated for our group-wide efforts to implement environment-friendly measures, which include measures to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases, measures to lower the environmental load, paper use and final disposal rate through efforts such as smart buildings that utilize ICT, and also the promotion of Midori Ippai Project activities, NTT West climbed up from the second place in the last survey to the top in this survey.

Encouraged by this rating, NTT West will continue to promote the balance between environmental measures and management efficiency together with the local communities.
