Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 264Participation in 12th "Forestation with Water and Greenery" Prefectural Resident Volunteer Activity November 25, 2017 NTT West Miyazaki Group

On November 25, 2017 (Saturday), the 12th "Forestation with Water and Greenery" prefectural resident volunteer activity was held by the organizer, Miyazaki Greening Promotion Agency. As part of the "Midori Ippai Project" by NTT West Miyazaki Group, a total of about 50 employees and family members of the group and affiliate companies took part in the event.

The activity started with a greeting by Mr. Sakai, Manager of General Affairs Department at NTT West Miyazaki Branch, who said that this is the fifth time Miyazaki Group took part in this activity. He thanked the group's united effort in their participation and urged everyone to perform work with safety as the top priority. After the speech, participants proceeded to the venue of the ceremony.

At the ceremony, Mr. Kono, Governor of Miyazaki Prefecture, said that it is important to cultivate and maintain mountains as part of the measures to prevent landslides and encouraged everyone to promote forestation activities for the future. He also thanked the large number of participants for taking part in this event.

The activity was held at Awakigahara Forest Park, which has been suffering serious damages caused by pine weevils. A total of about 500 participants, including volunteers from different parts of the prefecture, engaged in the activities to prune tree branches, weed undergrowth and plant trees.
Miyazaki Group was assigned to the group for planting six species of seedlings including Japanese bayberry and Japanese stone oak. Participants carefully planted the seedlings one by one and tied them against a bamboo pole to prevent them from falling, while hoping that they would grow into large trees that can withstand the force of the wind.

NTT West Miyazaki Group will continue to engage actively in environmental conservation activities in cooperation with local governments and NPOs through the "Midori Ippai Project."
