On December 9, 2017 (Saturday), NTT West Ehime Group held the "NTT Clean Environment Mission 2017 in Ehime" at Dogo Park in Matsuyama City.

Dogo Park is a multi-purpose park run by Ehime Prefecture where the ruins of the national historic site, Yuzuki Castle, and its museum are located. Also found here is the Matsuyama City Shiki Memorial Museum, which exhibits documents related to Masaoka Shiki, a haiku and tanka poet who was born in Matsuyama.
Other locations nearby the park include Isaniwa Shrine and Dogo Onsen, one of the three oldest hot springs in Japan. Dogo Park is a recreation spot that is visited by many local residents as well as tourists.

Marking the 24th round of the same activity, this cleaning mission has already become a regular event that is held every December. This year, a total of about 400 participants who are employees and family members as well as retired members of NTT Group took part in the activity.

The weather forecast on the previous day reported that there would be rain, but the weather held out and although the temperature was low on the day, the event was held as scheduled.

Participants started by gathering fallen leaves and scattering them in the forest at the center of the park, which would be decomposed by earthworms and microorganisms into leaf mold that helps to promote the growth of the trees. Not only so, the leaves can also be expected to improve the quality of the soil with excellent breathability and water retention properties.

After this, participants picked up litter to help beautify the different facilities in the park. Cleaning equipment was borrowed from the administrative office of the park and NTT's group companies, while trash bags were provided by Matsuyama City, which also took part in the trash collection activity, making it a cleaning event that involves the local community.
This cleaning mission has also contributed to the events held to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Masaoka Shiki.

NTT West Ehime Group will continue to engage in environmental conservation activities to prevent global warming.
