Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 250Forest Cultivation Activity at Greenpia-Yame October 21, 2017 NTT West Fukuoka Group

On October 21, 2017 (Saturday), NTT West Fukuoka Group took part in the forest cultivation activity held at "Kutsurogi no Mori - Greenpia-Yame" (Fukuoka Prefecture, Yame City, Kurogimachi).
A total of 89 employees and family members of Fukuoka Group took part in the seventh round of this activity.

Surrounded by nature, "Kutsurogi no Mori - Greenpia-Yame" is well equipped with lodging, sports, leisure, hot spring and other facilities within an extensive area. The place is well known for its wide variety of colorful flowers in the different seasons, including cherry blossoms in spring and hydrangea during the rainy season, and is also a famous spot for autumn leaves in fall.
Bountiful forests have been scientifically proven to have a therapeutic effect, and "Kutsurogi no Mori - Greenpia-Yame" became the first accredited "Forest Therapy" site in Fukuoka Prefecture in 2008.

In the opening address, Mr. Ozawa, Head of NTT West Kyushu Regional Headquarters, said that as a company that consumes a large amount of electric energy, it is necessary to engage actively in efforts to reduce power consumption and protect the global environment.

It was uncertain at first whether the event could be held as rain was expected from the morning according to the weather forecast. However, the weather turned out to be cloudy most of the time with some light drizzles. A safety briefing was conducted by staff from the Kurogi Branch of Yame City Office as well as the members of Greenpia-Yame. This was followed by approximately one hour of weeding activity.
The autumnal trees and rhododendrons that we planted in November 2013 and May 2014 have grown to a height as tall as an adult, and the weeded grass was used as fertilizers before the activity came to an end in hope that the plants will grow further.

After the activity ended, participants washed off their sweat and refreshed themselves in the hot springs inside the premises and enjoyed spending a meaningful weekend.

NTT West Fukuoka Group will continue to promote the "Midori Ippai Project" through our forest conservation activities, such as the undergrowth weeding event held this time, while deepening our cooperative relationship with the local government bodies.
