Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 235Tree Planting and Undergrowth Weeding at "Brilliant Forest" May 27, 2017 NTT West Wakayama Group

On May 27, 2017 (Saturday), NTT West Wakayama Group held a tree planting and undergrowth weeding activity at the "Brilliant Forest" located in Ryujin-mura of Tanabe City as part of the forest conservation efforts under the "corporate forest" project promoted by Wakayama Prefecture.

Wakayama Prefecture introduced the "corporate forest" project since 2002. It is a collective term for projects to achieve forest conservation within the prefecture as part of the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), social and environmental contribution activities by organizations such as corporations and labor unions, as well as activities to interact with the local communities.
Wakayama Group started its activity under the name of "Brilliant Forest" since April 2008. This is the 10th year of the endeavor.

Blessed with fine weather on the day of the event, a total of 50 participants who are employees, family members and retired employees of Wakayama Group took part in the activity. The venue was located on a steep slope which required a 10-minute walk uphill.
After climbing up the slope, participants started to engage in the planting and weeding work while surrounded by a majestic view. They worked up a good sweat and felt refreshed after weeding undergrowth that may hinder the growth of saplings.
This was the fourth time tree planting was carried out, and the saplings that were planted 10 years ago had grown to a height that was taller than 3m.

Through this activity, NTT West Wakayama Group was awarded a certificate on "environment conservation activities through carbon dioxide absorption by forests, etc." by the governor of Wakayama Prefecture.

NTT West Wakayama Group will continue to engage in efforts to protect the global environment through the "Brilliant Forest" conservation activities.
