Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 231Creating an Entire Field of Sunflowers! June 17, 2017 NTT West Fukui Group
On June 17, 2017 (Saturday), NTT West Fukui Group took part in the "Ono Ecofield Sunflower Seeding" event, which was held as part of the environmental conservation activities organized by an environmental group in Ono City.
A total of about 30 people took part in the activity, including five from Fukui Group, volunteers from other local companies, members of the management and operation council as well as their family members.
"Echizen Ono Ecofield" (commonly known as "Dongurin Hiroba") is located in the Kamisho district of Ono City in Fukui Prefecture. With a total area of about 32,000m2, the green plaza is a site for greening and environmental conservation activities with flower fields as well as fields grown with acorn saplings.
The participants spread across an area of about 4,000m2 under the blue sky. They bent their bodies and wiped off sweat as they planted the seeds carefully into the rows of soil pits with a size of a few centimeters that were dug in advance, followed by covering the seeds with soil. Sunflowers will thrive with large blossoms if they grow on a fertile land with plenty of sunshine.
The sunflower seeds planted at this activity are expected to be in full bloom by the Obon holidays in mid August. We are looking forward to seeing visitors enjoying the entire field of sunflowers.
