Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 221Participation in Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens Flower Field "Hana Ippai Project" (Making of Summer Flowerbeds) May 20, 2017 NTT West Tokai Group
On May 20, 2017 (Saturday), the "Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens Hana Ippai Project (Making of Summer Flowerbeds)" was held at Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens in Nagoya City.
NTT West Tokai Group has been taking part in this event since 2013 with a large number of participants who are employees and retired employees of the Group as well as their family members. This year marked a record high of 227 participants.
The flowerbeds of NTT West Group are located at the same place as previous years. In response to the increasing number of participants each year, a larger number of flowerbeds have been assigned to us, thanks to the kind consideration of Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens.
A group photo was taken in front of the flowerbeds before getting to work, after which the participants were divided into three groups.
The seedlings of sunflowers, which symbolize summer, were used for this flowerbed-making event. Work was carried out with priority given to families and first-timers.
The temperature rose beyond 31邃 on the day of the event, and participants worked up a good sweat as they planted the seedlings. The process was a smooth one, and it took less time than expected to finish planting all the 2,500 seedlings.
Besides the flowerbed-making activity on this day, the participants will continue to watch the growth of the sunflowers by visiting the flowerbeds to carry out maintenance work such as weeding and cleaning of the surroundings.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens since its opening, and thus more commemorative events are anticipated compared to past years. The flower field where the sunflowers were planted will probably be filled with flowers in July and August.
NTT West Tokai Group will continue to engage in this effort in order to convey to more people the joy of having colorful blooming flowers, grass and trees around us.
