Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 211Participation in the Gifu Midori Ippai Project "Nagara River Beautification Campaign" August 7, 2016 NTT West Gifu Group
On August 7, 2016 (Sunday), NTT West Gifu Group took part in the 2016 "2nd Nagara River Beautification Campaign" organized by the Nagara River Beautification Campaign Committee. This campaign is a cleanup activity that is held three times a year as part of the effort to put into action the "I Love Gifu" slogan proposed by Gifu Shimbun and Gifu Broadcasting System.
A day before the cleanup activity, the "71st National Fireworks Festival in Celebration of Gifu Shimbun's 135th Anniversary" was held, and large quantities of litter were found scattered along Nagara River on the morning of the activity, including cans, plastic and glass bottles, ground sheets, leftover lunchboxes and ashes of rocket fireworks.
Despite falling on a non-working day, a total of 121 participants who are employees, family members and retired employees of Gifu Group gathered at 6 a.m. to take part in the cleaning.
The fireworks festival of Nagara River attracts a huge number of spectators from all parts of Japan every year.
NTT West Gifu Group will continue to take part in the environmental conservation and cleanup activities in order to maintain a beautiful Nagara River as well as a fine environment for living things that inhabit the area.
