Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 208Participation in "Tottori Forest of Symbiosis" Forest Conservation Activity November 12, 2016 NTT West Tottori Group

On November 12, 2016 (Saturday), NTT West Tottori Group took part in the ""Tottori Forest of Symbiosis"" forest conservation activity.
The ""Tottori Forest of Symbiosis"" is a system that started in 2006 with the prefecture, cities and towns providing support to social contribution activities by the private sector. Since 2013, Tottori Group has been engaging in the activities through a tripartite agreement with Tottori Prefecture and Yazu-cho.

The seventh round of the activity was held at the bamboo grove owned by Tahoji Temple (Yazu-gun, Yazu-cho, Funaokatono). A total of about 100 people took part in the forest conservation activities such as bamboo cutting, among which 60 were members of Tottori Group.

The weather was clear on the day of the event, and participants cut down unwanted bamboos while making use of a rope for large bamboo plants as a safety measure under the guidance of Yazu Central Forest Owners' Cooperative. Besides cutting, everyone also worked up a good sweat transporting and chipping the plants.
A hands-on workshop was also conducted to make bamboo brooms from branches that were collected and kept from the last activity.

At the end of the activity, participants had an enjoyable interaction session with the local community with food prepared by members of the local women's association.
NTT West Tottori Group will continue to engage actively in activities for protecting the global environment and contributing to the local communities.
