LINE 194 Pine Forest Conservation Activity at Fukui Beach of Itoshima City

On October 29, 2016 (Saturday), a total of 122 employees and family members of NTT West Fukuoka Group participated in the fifth round of the pine forest conservation activity at Fukui Beach (Fukuoka Prefecture, Itoshima City, Nijo-Fukui).

Although the event was on the verge of being canceled as it had been raining since the previous day, the sun showed its face at the time the event started. Participants took part in activities including branch picking, pine-needle raking and grass cutting to protect the pine trees from weevils. The activity was held with support from "Satohama-tunagi-tai," a network formed by the local residents who engage in the pine forest conservation activities of the local region. At the same time, cleaning of Fukui Beach, which is next to the pine forest, was also held. A beautiful scenery, as suggested by the common saying of "white sand, green pine," came into view at the end of the conservation activity.

At the closing ceremony to wrap up the event, snacks were presented as gifts to the participating children, who received them with a great smile while declaring that they would take part again in the next activity.

This activity makes use of the Adopt Program by Itoshima City, where segments that were assigned by the city were regarded as "foster children" for cleaning to be carried out in the long term and not just temporarily.

Fukuoka Group will unite its efforts to promote the "Midori Ippai Project" while deepening its cooperative ties with organizations such as local governments.
