Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 182Participation in the Ishikawa Forestation Project June 15, July 2 and July 9, 2016 NTT West Hokuriku Group

NTT West Hokuriku Group took part in the three-week "Ishikawa Forestation Project" that was held from late June 2016. This project was hosted by Ishikawa Reforestation Promotion Association.

Under the abovetitled project, forest conservation activities were carried out at three locations (Kaga, Kanazawa and Noto) to "protect the nature." The main activities include maintenance works such as undergrowth weeding and vine cutting at the forests in these areas, on-site learning by making use of the natural environment, and social action programs that were participated by corporations and groups. This is the fifth year NTT West Hokuriku Group took part in the project with participation by a total of 27 people from the Group.

At Yuhidera Temple (Kanazawa City) where grass cutting was carried out last autumn, weeds had grown very tall due to the ample rainfall during the rainy season. Children participants who are family members of the employees helped out with the grass cutting work while having lots of fun and catching insects that appeared every now and then. We believe it was a pleasant memory for the children.

After the conservation activities, the following encouraging comments were received from the participants.
"I was perspiring a lot under the hot sun, but this was the first time I cut grass with a sickle, and it feels really good to see the place transforming into a beautiful spot."
"This is the first time I took part in the activity. Participants from other companies were also very committed and the time spent was meaningful."

As there is rarely any opportunity in our day-to-day life to think about "protecting the nature," which is the essence of the activity's objective, we hope to create more opportunities to think about and make contributions to the natural environment, and that this aspiration to interact with and preserve nature can be handed down to future generations.

We look forward to a large turnout from the employees and their family members at the next round of activities.
