LINE 172 Participation in Environmental Beautification Activity of the Japan Archipelago Cleaning Mission by "Small Kindness Movement"

On May 13, 2016 (Friday), the "Japan Archipelago Cleaning Mission," which is held as part of the 35th round of "Small Kindness" movement, was held at Shinmachibashi Higashi Park. The organizer of this round of activity was Small Kindness Movement Tokushima Prefecture HQ.

The Japan Archipelago Cleaning Mission is an activity that is held throughout Japan. 522 participants from 41 groups took part in this year's activity, which was hosted by the Tokushima Prefecture HQ, among which 45 employees were from NTT West Tokushima Group and led by Mr. Fujieda, Manager of Tokushima Branch.

Participants were divided into four big groups, with Groups 2 to 4 assigned to designated sites to promote beautification of the environment by distributing trash bags and towels to passers-by. Meanwhile, Group 1 comprises 208 members from 13 different organizations, who carried out cleaning along Route 438 from the front of JR Tokushima Station to Awaodori Kaikan.

Participants from NTT West Tokushima Group were assigned to Group 1, where they spent about 1.5 hours collecting trash such as empty cans and bottles, cigarette butts and waste paper. At the same time, the leader of each participating organization put on a sash that was printed with the slogan of the beautification activity - "Beautiful Japan, Beautiful Heart," and called public attention to the importance of "a beautiful environment" and the need to "widen warm heart-to-heart connections."

Taking part in these cleaning activities in the long term not only allows for a deeper level of communication among member groups and corporations who agree with the activities, but at the same time helps to cultivate and heighten the awareness of the individual members toward volunteer activities.

NTT West Tokushima Group will continue to take part in this activity to deepen interaction with the local community, while at the same time make significant contributions to conserving the environment and revitalizing the region that we live in.
