Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 159"Gifu Midori Ippai Project" - 4th Year into the Building of "Green Curtains" May 11 and 12, 2016 NTT West Gifu Group
On May 11 and 12, 2016, NTT West Gifu Group engaged in the building of "green curtains." This is the fourth year we have been holding this activity.
The main objective of this activity is to plant creepers in the surrounding areas and inner courtyard of the buildings where Gifu Business Unit companies are located (Kano Building and Umegae Building) so as to help reduce temperature rise inside the buildings due to intense heat from the sun.
Besides the same plants as last year, such as bitter gourd, morning glory, cucumber and tomato, this year we also challenged planting passion fruit, gourd, capsicum and peanut.
The heat on the day of the event was similar to that in summer. Participants engaged in the preparation of new soil to replace the old ones followed by planting of the young plants, and were seen wiping away their sweat as they carried out the work.
By early summer, we will be able to enjoy the cooling look from the verdant leaves of the plants and the fruits they bear, and the harvest we can reap from the plants we grow is also something to look forward to every year.
At the same time, we also tidied up the flowerbeds that were covered with weeds, and planted sweet potatoes, which were well received last year, together with seasonal flowers such as lavender and sunflower. While regular watering of the plants and weeding of the flowerbeds are needed before summer arrives, we will take good care of them while looking forward to their growth.
