On March 5 (Saturday), NTT Kumamoto Group engaged in activities including tree planting and weeding of undergrowth at the "Green Earth Forest" located on Yoshimuta Highlands of Yamato-cho.

This is the fourth round of the "Kumamoto Yoshimuta Highlands Forestation Activities" since the launch of the event in FY 2013, which is held in cooperation with "Earth Greenery Activities Japan (EGAJ)," an NPO that engages in activities to conserve the global environment such as tree planting.

A total of 45 participants who are employees and family members of companies under the Kumamoto Group took part in the activity.

Participants gathered at the car park of the Yoshimuta river-head area on the day of the event, and moved together to the "Green Earth Forest."
Under the guidance of EGAJ members as well as Mr. Yoshihi Futana, an outdoor activity specialist and winner of a TV program titled "TV Champion - King of Deserted Island Championship," undergrowth weeding required for tree planting was carried out and about 200 sawtooth oak saplings were planted.

After lunch, lectures were conducted to talk about the importance of biodiversity as well as satoyama (village forests). It was a fruitful day for the participants, who had the opportunity to interact with nature.

Kumamoto Business Unit will continue to promote the "Midori Ippai Project" activities.
