Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 149Participation Again in This Year's "Dogitsu-no-Mori Reforestation Plan Project D - Acorns" November 15, 2015 NTT West Nagasaki Group

On November 15 (Sunday), NTT West Nagasaki Group took part in the "Dogitsu-no-Mori Reforestation Plan Project D - Acorns" hosted by Togitsu-cho, an activity which the Group started participating in since last year as part of the Midori Ippai Project.
Started several years ago, this activity aims at helping wild boars appearing in villages due to forest development to return to the mountains by planting saplings grown from acorns to produce food for the boars.

Many saplings that were planted last year were found withered, so the main objective of this year's activity was to replant them.
It started raining the day before the event, but participants' wishes came true and were blessed with clear weather from the early morning. A total of about 120 people, including 30 employees from NTT West Nagasaki Group and participants from other companies, government offices and local community, began planting 400 saplings grown from acorns and spreading fertilizers from 9:00a.m.
Participants were divided into groups of four. Under the guidance of the government office staff and local supporters, they paid careful attention to prevent injury while working on the slope, and completed the tasks in about 1.5 hours.

In closing, the town mayor of Togitsu-cho expressed his gratitude to the participants and hoped for their continued support.
At the end of the tree planting ceremony, all participants enjoyed delicious grilled mushrooms, mandarin oranges and steamed buns that were offered by Togitsu-cho as well as the local community.

NTT West Nagasaki Group will continue to take part in and support this project, and monitor the growth of the saplings from the acorns together with the local community.
