Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 136FY 2015 Mount Fuji Cleanup Activity September 12, 2015 NTT West Shizuoka Group

On September 12 (Saturday), a clear day with the season's 18th typhoon gone and autumn breeze blowing, a total of 155 participants gathered at the Gotemba New 5th Station that leads to the world heritage-listed Mount Fuji.

As with the past, NTT West Shizuoka Group sees the need to carry out cleaning activities at the end of Mount Fuji's climbing season, and thus held a second round of cleanup activity this year on September 12 with the hope to keep Mount Fuji beautiful forever.

After Mount Fuji has been listed as a world heritage site, there has been a large number of visitors from Japan as well as other countries.
In order for the visitors to enjoy the magnificent landscape, we made it a point to remove garbage from all places, including areas beside the mountain trails and inside the bushes.
As part of the Midori Ippai Project, this activity was conducted with the hope that Mount Fuji will remain beautiful always as a world heritage site.
As we looked back at the mountain trail that we have cleaned, we could tell that the mountain has become cleaner and more beautiful than before.
The sense of accomplishment that we felt was as refreshing as the autumn sky.

With the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games approaching, the number of foreign visitors is also increasing. It would be wonderful if the large number of tourists visiting Mount Fuji could be impressed by the beautiful and magnificent landscape, and this is also a reason that encourages us to continue with our endeavor.
We plan to continue this activity so as to convey the excitement to future generations.

The cleaning activity was carried out as part of a social action program with support from the people of Gotemba City as well as participation by employees and their family as well as retired members of the Shizuoka Business Unit.

[Interesting information]
There is a place named Tarobo that is located near the starting point of the Gotemba mountain trail. Back in 1975, this place used to be a ski facility operated by Gotemba City which offered natural snow and was equipped with a ski lift.

I wonder how it feels like to ski down the slope of the magnificent Mount Fuji.
