LINE 135 Local Contribution and Environment Conservation Activities Using Vehicle-mounted Work Platforms

Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 135Local Contribution and Environment Conservation Activities Using Vehicle-mounted Work Platforms August 6 and 20, 2015 NTT West Nagasaki Group

This activity, which has been ongoing since 2007, kicked off in the Nagasaki area on August 6 (Thursday).
The activity was held at three areas in the prefecture due to factors such as the recent typhoons.

At 10:30a.m. on August 20, an opening ceremony was held at Hirado Elementary School (Hirado City), which was attended by all participants from the school officials, police stations, telecommunications construction companies, all partner companies, NTT Fieldtechno, NTT Business Solutions and NTT Business Associe West. After the opening speeches by the Manager of NTT West Nagasaki Branch, principal of Hirado Elementary School and Hirado Police Station, everyone recited the safety slogan in unison.

At the end of the opening ceremony, the participants were divided into groups to hold a KYT (Kiken Yochi Training or Risk Prediction Training) before starting work.
A total of six vehicle-mounted work platforms and two lightweight trucks were used for the pruning and cleaning works. Utmost priority was given to ensuring safety such as by lowering branches and leaves that were pruned off using a rope, while careful attention was also paid to avoid heat stroke during the course of work to enhance visibility, which lasted for about two hours.

At the closing ceremony after the work was completed, the principal of Hirado Elementary School expressed his words of gratitude, saying that the students can now commute to their school safely and the schoolyard now provides a better space for sports activities. He added that he will introduce this endeavor to the students when the new semester starts.

NTT West Nagasaki Group will continue with the activity to cut away or prune off unwanted trees as part of the environmental protection efforts so as to ensure safety of the local elementary and junior high school students.
