On June 6, NTT West Oita Group participated in the "Building a Beautiful Village Forest" activity as part of the "Midori Ippai Project" to enhance forest health at the Oka Castle Site in Taketa City.
This years marks the eighth round of the village forest building activity.
In order to preserve the scenery of the Oka Castle site in Taketa City, which is famous for its mention in the song ""Kojo no Tsuki (Moon of the Abandoned Castle),"" NTT West Oita Group has been engaging in maintenance works such as weeding and bamboo cutting in cooperation with the ""Association for Promotion of Forest Health on the South Side of Oka Castle,"" an entity with the local chambers of commerce playing the central role.
By developing abandoned land that has been left unattended for years to restore the original scenery, it is hoped that the landscape will be transformed dramatically into a tourist attraction or one with excellent disaster prevention measures.
The weather was clear on this day that was in the middle of the rainy season, and a total of 19 employees and family members of Oita Group took part in the activity.
The participants worked up a good sweat weeding areas including the slope beside the car park of the Oka Castle.
After the activity, a friendly interaction session was held with the Taketa Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as town promotion group members, such as singing "Kojo no Tsuki" together.
