Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 205Participation in 11th "Forestation with Water and Greenery" Prefectural Resident Volunteer Activity November 19, 2016 NTT West Miyazaki Group

On November 19, 2016 (Saturday), a total of about 50 employees, family members and retirees of NTT West Miyazaki Group companies and affiliate companies took part in the 11th "Forestation with Water and Greenery" prefectural resident volunteer activity organized by the Miyazaki Greening Promotion Agency as part of the "Midori Ippai Project" by NTT West.

In his greeting, Mr. Sakai, Manager of Planning and General Affairs Department, said that the Midori Ippai Project is gradually taking root as part of Miyazaki Group's environmental activities together with the Clean Environment Mission that is held yearly in March, and expressed gratitude for the effort, which has helped to boost the presence of NTT West Group. He ended the speech with a reminder to carry out the works carefully before everyone proceeded to the venue of the ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, which was held at Sun Marina Miyazaki inside Miyazaki Rinkai Park located in the premises of Awakigahara Forest Park, Mr. Kono, Governor of Miyazaki Prefecture, said that this is an important effort to hand down the rich nature of Miyazaki to future generations, and thanked the large number of participants for taking part in the event.

Next, volunteers from different part of the prefecture moved to the Shioji Prefectural Forest inside the Forest Park where they engaged in pruning, weeding and pine tree planting activities.
Miyazaki Prefecture has been suffering serious damages caused by pine weevils, and Miyazaki Group was in charge of planting pine saplings at this event, where participants dug holes with a hoe and carefully planted 1,000 pine trees one by one with the hope that they would grow into large trees that can withstand the force of the wind.

It was a challenging task for the participants who engaged in the planting activity to use hoes which they were not used to, but nonetheless they were able to enjoy nature through this valuable opportunity which they can hardly experience in their everyday life.

NTT West Miyazaki Group will continue to engage actively in environmental conservation activities in cooperation with local governments and NPOs through the "Midori Ippai Project."
