On November 12, 2016 (Saturday), NTT West Gifu Group held a forest volunteer activity to plant trees and weed undergrowth at "Nagaragawa Fureai no Mori" located at Mitabora in the northeast region of Gifu City.

The sky was clear on the day of the event, the perfect weather for volunteer activities in the forest where autumn leaves have begun to take on beautiful colors. 52 participants took part in the eighth round of the same activity, which was a record high. While there were regular participants who carried out their work skillfully, the first-timers also put in a lot of effort. Autumn is also the season with a lot of fallen leaves, and children who were struggling with using bamboo brooms which they were not used to was a heartwarming scene.
Participants also seem to have become more skillful each time they take part in this activity. Thanks to the participants' support, the Nagaragawa Fureai no Mori looks extremely clean after the activity.

Also, participants brought along and planted saplings which they have grown from acorns at home.
At the same time, they picked up the large number of fruits that fell off from the trees, which were brought back to the participants' home or secretariat to nurture before they are returned to the forest again. It would be exciting to see the result in two to three years' time.

At the end of the activity, a popular hands-on workshop to experience ""yoseue"" (group planting) of seasonal flowers was held, and participants enjoyed the process from choosing flowers to arranging them.
After the yoseue session, participants commented happily that they always looked forward to attending this event and the flowers that were planted at the last activity were still blooming beautifully.

Through this project, we hope that more participants will cultivate the habit to take good care of flowers and enjoy transforming their homes into a green environment.
NTT West Gifu Group will continue to engage actively in efforts for the activity to take root.
