Midori Ippai Project Activities LINE 166Kickoff of 2016 "Green Curtain" Campaign - Protection against Hot Weather and Contributing to Energy Conservation May 10 to 13, 2016 NTT West Miyazaki Group
From May 10 (Tuesday) to May 13 (Friday), employees from Planning and General Affairs Department of NTT West Miyazaki Branch and Miyazaki Office of NTT Business Associe West gathered to plant different species of plants, including passion fruit, morning glory and bitter gourd, in planters at the balcony on the fifth floor of Hiroshima Building (East Block) where NTT West Miyazaki Branch is located.
Miyazaki Group has been engaging in the making of "green curtains" yearly as part of the effort against the intense heat in summer.
Although the seedlings in the planters are still young now, they will grow rapidly and eventually help to block the intense heat from the sun, thereby helping to reduce temperature rise in the office building.
This year, to elaborate the plan, a contest is held with each of the participants preparing his/her own planters, which will be assessed based on the blossoms, fruits that the plants bear and also the size of the green curtain. Prizes will be awarded to the outstanding individuals or groups.
Besides the beautiful blossoms, harvest of the fruits and energy conservation through the green curtains, participants will also take good care of the plants while looking forward to the results of the contest.
